I remember the cold. We moved here after a particularly cold winter, when our water pipe froze and we had no water for a few days, digging out our car from under snow to leave the house… it’s the reason we’re here. But I have to admit I have days when I miss the cold and the snow.
The desert has such a different beauty. For me it took some adjusting to. My best friend lived in Santa Fe for years and we'd stop enroute to Mexico each year, when we still drove down. Although SF is not a specific desert, it's aridness, arroyos, et al seem similar.
Yes, it is very different from anything else I've ever seen before! Though I could say I fell in love with its unique beauty at first sight, it still took me some adjusting to enjoy being here, too. Summers are especially tough, but even in the winter it can be tough to hike in the sun.
Thank you for sharing your landscape! Here, we have snow and cold temperatures.

palo verde are something, especially in bloom.
I enjoy them, too, especially when in bloom! But even now, their green bark is something! Such a beautiful color!
