"We are not the resort-type travelers. In fact, I tend to speak out against resorts, especially the all-inclusive type. However, this time we stayed in one. And I felt like a hypocrite, especially because I enjoyed it." --> this made me chuckle, I oh-so relate to this guilty feeling! But I also try to talk myself out of it by telling myself that a little treat every once in a while never killed anybody :) Great article!!!
Thank you!!! :) So glad you can relate! I agree though, we all deserve a little treat once in a while. Also, on the plus side, the resort we stayed at was pretty environmentally aware. They didn't change our bedsheets or towels every day, only if we would've asked - and since we didn't, I feel pretty good about saving water and detergent -, they had large containers of shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom instead of using the tiny plastic ones, and they had recycle bins all over the place. And, the food they served was all locally sourced, too. So, maybe not quite as bad.
What a wonderful anniversary, Emese, and with a great story about it to tell. Loved it. And also the dedication of Arturo and his ability to find missing things (an art form, no)? He was Zihuatenejos' Saint of Lost Objects. How lucky for you!!!
Yes, it was great! And Arturo - I still can't get over his ability to find not only lost objects in the ocean, but also find the people who lost them! He spotted us two days later, in the water, no less, and remembered I lost the sunglasses he found. Yes, I'm sure he is the Saint of Lost Objects, I was extremely lucky to meet him.
I wasn't familiar with a book of that title, so I looked it up - turns out there are three books (different authors) with the title The Saint of Lost Things ... they all sound worth a read, so now I have new books to look for :). Thank you! Also, yes, I am happy to have them back. Jeff says he'll frame them and hang them on a wall when I can no longer wear them, to remind us of the story.
Frame the frames, Emese! Love that image. Sorry I put that thought in your mind! I thought it was Anne Patchett or someone, but it wasn’t! I looked too. (now I think it was the Patron Saint of lost causes). Oh man. Think I liked the idea, that there would be a saint for that, kind of an anti-hero. (I'm not Catholic so some of their many saints mystified me).
Oh, I don't mind going down a rabbit hole in search of a book - it usually happens. Mention a book to me I haven't heard of and I'll go searching for it. I am in the same boat with the many saints, and now I learned they do have a patron saint for lost things.
Yay, for Arturo!
Yes, he's definitely a great guy!

Love hearing about the adventures you two experience! 💕
Thanks, Jackie! <3 We have a lot of fun and I enjoy writing about them...

It reminds me of that book, can't recall the exact title, maybe the Saint of Lost Things? It was a catchy title. I'm just happy you got them back.
