I loved reading about this & how you saw firsthand how archeological sites change throughout the years. I can't wait to find some adventures like this of my own :)
Love this! Reminds us of a similar site in Belize, Xunantunich, which similarly was an out of the way spot and slowly becoming more touristy. Still incredible, though.
I just visited Xunantunich last year, and you are right, it was much more touristy than I expected. I wish I'd seen it "back in the day", I'm sure you enjoyed it! It is still worth the visit, it is an incredible site! Thanks for reading and commenting :)
Emese! You saw it in the rough! It is still so amazing, those statues. Really Asian like in appearance (imho). What an adventure!!
Yes, we did! I still can't get over our timing! Those statues are really something, so very different than anything else in the area.
Truly! You guys! Where are your Indiana Jones' hats? Or are you hiding them?
Wow definitely need to get there next time we are in the area!
Yes, it’s beautiful! Worth the visit. Try to go off-season to have fewer crowds, if possible. Thanks for reading :)
