Now that you mention the idea of falling into the cenote, I think you may be right. Great photos, loved the discussion of the southern buildings.

Thank you, Victoria! I know I was scared of falling into the cenote, so I imagine it being quite common without a guardrail. And once in it, I can not imagine how anyone could climb out; it's so far down and so deep... Glad you enjoyed my talking about the southern buildings, they are my favorites at the site! :)

Emese, your photos held up remarkably well! I like the Red House one a lot. The cenote there really does have a weird vibe. Maybe bc all the sacrifice, maybe bc there seem to be a lot of trees around it (or were) and you walk a bit away from the pyramids themselves. Great to re-visit the site, through your eyes.

Thank you, Jeanine! Jeff is the photo guru... he had a pretty good camera for the time, so the originals were nice, and he scanned them about ten years ago. Some came out better than others when scanned, but I like their "old" look, even when not all that clear. Yes, I like the Red House one, too. And true about the cenote, so different from most others on the peninsula.
